The wet and windy weather that caused havoc at sports clubs across Argyll at the weekend failed to prevent play at Machrihanish Golf Club – but there was a reduction in the number of competitors.
The club hosted competitions for ladies, gents and juniors across its Championship and Pans courses last Saturday and Sunday.
Stuart Campbell took the honours in the Torpedo Cup and April Medal strokeplay contests on the Championship Course on Saturday, winning the men’s handicap section and the April Medal’s first division with a score of 85-2=83.
There were no returned scores in the Torpedo Cup’s ladies’ handicap and men’s 65+ handicap sections, or in the April Medal’s second and third divisions, with the overall prizes reduced due to the limited number of players.
There were also no returned scores for the April Medal strokeplay competition set to take place on the Pans Course the same day.
Nothing could deter the youngsters who turned out in force for the club’s two Junior Easter Trophy competitions on the Pans Course on Sunday.
In the nine-hole Stableford competition, Aiden McBride took first place with 18 points, with Craig MacMillan second on 15 points and Jack Reid third with 14 points.
In the three-hold strokeplay contest, the results were as follows: 1 Thomas 22, 2 Robbie 23, 3 Jamie 27, 4 Archie 31, 5 Euan 34, 6 Lyle 35, 7 Craig 70.
