The Lochaber Times joined the family and friends of Fergie MacDonald this week in mourning the passing of a Highland legend.
The world will seem a wee bit quieter and a tad less colourful without the Moidart Ceilidh King in it.
His popularity shone through in the messages we received following the announcement of his death last week.
Not only was Fergie an inspiration on the Scottish traditional music scene but he was also a talented shooter, representing his country at clay pigeon shooting, author, storyteller and much, much more.
His main love, however, was his family, the achievements and antics of whom he would often mention with pride during his much enjoyed and anticipated phone calls to The Lochaber Times.
Never one for just a "short call", Fergie spoke to us on many occasions over the year’s, regaling us with stories from the peninsula and further afield. He even wrote a regular column for The Oban Times back in the day, which, as with everything he put his hand to, was an immensely popular feature.
His never-failing humour and knack for spinning a yarn never waned over the years.
Fergie loved life and in return life loved him back.
Rest in peace, Fergie.
