Kintyre’s best Blackface sheep breeders showcased their stock at an annual competition.
The 2024 Kintyre Blackface Sheep Breeders stock judging contest was held at Craigs Farm, courtesy of the McKerral family, on February 2.
There was an excellent turnout with around 130 participants and organisers said a great night was had by all.
David Murray, of Lurgan Farm in Aberfeldy, was the esteemed judge for the evening, with outstanding examples of the Blackface breed on show.
The overall winner was Jake Ronald, with Arnicle Farm named overall champion breeder and Heather Millar picking up the championship prize.

Young Farmers Club: 1 Jake Ronald, 2 Craig Barbour, 3 Heather Millar. Juniors: 1 Frazer Prentice, 2 Iona McArthur, 3 Zoe Prentice, Team: Craig McMillan; Duncan MacKinnon and John McLachlan.
An event spokesperson said: “Thanks must be given to all the generous donors for raffle prizes, Argyll Bakeries for its wonderful catering, the scoring ladies and the committee for their hard work."
