Yvonne, 29, who campaigned tirelessly for Billy’s release, said she was ‘beyond excited’ to finally wed the 37-year-old ex-soldier.
Billy said: ‘I can never forgive the UK government and the FCO.’
‘We’d like to thank the legal team, the charities who supported us especially the Mission to Seafarers, the #Chennai6 campaign team who have just been incredible, our MPs and the media who helped with our fight for freedom.
‘This is a victory for the families of the Chennai Six.’
At the time Yvonne said: ‘The people of Campbeltown have done more than anyone else for him.
‘It means so much to me that he has so many friends wanting to help.’
Billy Irving’s fiancee, Yvonne MacHugh, said: ‘I can’t quite believe we finally have a date for a verdict. Since the day the five-year sentence was handed to Billy, our lives have been at a standstill.’
The High Court judge has a fortnight to come to a decision.
