‘We have been consulting with young people through our private Facebook page during the lockdowns and have managed to come up with a plan for the garden project’
‘We’re so pleased to hear that we’ve been awarded with this funding from BBC Children in Need which will help to us deliver our Youth Impact project for the next three years.’
Youngsters, clad in a mix of costumes, enjoyed fun, music and games at the party.
A year on, Youth Impact has achieved charity status and is going from strength to strength.
Another group of volunteers which has worked hard for many years is the Kintyre Red Cross committee.
Phil Edwards said: ‘The community is really behind the project. I put a shout out for mirrors for the beauty room and the next day 28 appeared.’
Youth Impact aims to offer a base for young people to engage in positive, informal and educational activities, where they can receive advice and support, and encouragement to gain, develop and effectively use their skills to get into employment or training, working together to improve their life skills and prevent social exclusion.
