On a day of mixed weather on Tuesday July 19, 12 ladies took to the course at Dunaverty Golf Club to compete in the SSAFA Stableford competition.
Morning player Margaret Richardson took full advantage of the relatively calm, warm conditions and returned an excellent card of 40 points to set the pace.
The remaining morning players were unable match or better Margaret’s score, although Fiona Neilson scored a respectable 35 points.
The evening players had to contend with very strong winds on the second half of the game and this kept scores low for the most part, however, Elizabeth Marrison made a serious challenge for the lead, returning a great score of 38 points to take second place.
Results: 1 Margaret Richardson 40 points, 2 Elizabeth Marrison 38 points, 3 Fiona Neilson 35 points.
The draw for the club’s three-number lottery took place on Sunday, for a jackpot of £900. The numbers drawn were 5, 11 and 16 but there were no winners.
This means that the next draw on Sunday August 6 is for a guaranteed jackpot of £1,000, with groups of three numbers being drawn until there is a winner.
Tickets are available from Southend’s Muneroy Tearoom, or from the golf clubhouse until 4pm on the day of the draw.
