Conditions were perfect, albeit a bit breezy, as the sun shone at Dunaverty Golf Club last Saturday for the gents’ four-club competition.

Playing for the Conniglen Cup, 25 players vied for the title with some returning their best rounds of the season so far, despite having the option of only four sticks…maybe something to think on for the rest of the season.

Club Captain Donald Brown (Southend) emerged victorious with a fantastic round of nett 63 to retain the trophy he won last year.

‘Thanks as always to Jonathan Barbour and Campbell MacBrayne for a course presented in magnificent condition and to Rona Burton and Mairi MacBrayne for looking after everyone,’ said a club spokesperson.

Result: 1 Donald Brown (Southend), 81-18=63; 2 Don Hardman, 76-11=65; 3 Neil Barlow, 85-19=66. Lowest gross: Don Hardman, 76.
