The West Backs Farm herd picked up the prize for best overall at Kintyre Holstein Breeders Club’s annual herds competition.

Held over Monday May 9 and Tuesday May 10, Willie Ralston had the difficult job of judging this year’s competition.

At the end of the two days, members enjoyed a lovely dinner and prize-giving at Machrihanish Golf Club where the results were announced, as follows:

  • Small herds: 1 Kilkeddan, 2 Trodigal, 3 Coledrain.
  • Large herds: 1 West Backs, 2 Kilkivan, 3 Drumalea.
  • Individual: 1 West Backs, 2nd Kikeddan, 3 Kilkivan.
  • Milk records: 1 Machrihanish, 2 West Backs, 3 Kilkeddan.
  • Best herd overall: West Backs. Reserve: Kilkeddan.

‘Thanks to our competitors, those who followed throughout the day and to our judge,’ said a club spokesperson.
