Caledonian Marts Ltd had forward 267 store cattle at its fortnightly sale on Monday.

Bullocks averaged 246ppkg, selling to 270ppkg for a pen of Charolais from R Purdon, Easterton, Airdrie, and to £1,640 for a pen of Aberdeen Angus’s from W Taylor, Jawpark, Slamannan.

Heifers averaged 229ppkg selling to 262ppkg for a pen of Limousins from C Nicoll, Newton of Fotheringham, Forfar, and to £1,160 for a pen of Aberdeen Angus’s from D S Raeburn, Pressoch, Angus.

Bulls sold to 240ppkg for Angus’s from D S Raeburn, Pressoch, and to £1,250 from the same home.

Other leading prices: Bullocks per head: £1,640 Jawpark, £1,520 Jawpark, £1,400 Macrindleston, £1,340 Craigkelly, £1,280 Newton of Fotheringham, £1,260 Martnaham Mains, £1,250 Ardgate (twice) and Newton of Fotheringham.

Heifers per head: £1,160 Pressoch, £1,100 Cowdens and Macrindletson, £1,020 Ledrishmore, £1,000 Martnaham Mains.

Bullocks per kg: 270p Easterton, 268p Aucherthead and Candermains, 265p Newton of Fotheringham, 262p Harelaw, 261p Ledrishmore and Candermains, 260p Ardgate.

Heifers per kg: 262p Newton of Fotheringham, 252p Cowdens, 248p Mossywood, 245p Harelaw.

The Stirling show and sale of breeding cattle and multi-breed sale of bulls will be held on Monday May 23.

The next sale of store cattle will be on Monday May 30.
