Tarbert Golf Club members were saddened to learn of the death of JB (Iain) Sinclair last month.

‘Iain did a massive amount for the club over a long period of time, both on and off the course,’ said a club spokesperson.

‘His work as secretary was greatly admired and appreciated by all members of the club.’

For many years, Iain held the record, at Glenralloch, for the most Stableford points secured over 18 holes.

‘His record of 44 points was unheard of at one point in time,’ added the spokesperson, ‘common place now with the new handicap system but, back in the day, a great achievement.

‘Club members send their best wishes to Iain’s son Peter and daughter Margaret at this sad time.’

This week sees the second round of the club’s President’s Cup take place, along with the first round of the John Reid Quaich.

Peter McLean jnr leads the President’s Cup race after the first round.
