Glenbarr Garden Centre was an apt location for Campbeltown Flower Club’s members to celebrate the group’s 50th anniversary.

The club was founded by Iona MacNeill and taken over by Bill Sayers after some time.

Over the years, the club has had many different demonstrations from the Scottish Association of Floral Art Societies’ demonstrators and talented flower arrangers, interspersed with workshops.

A special cake was made to mark the club's 50th anniversary.

‘Between lockdowns, we were fortunate that we were able to meet up in the Kirk Street Hall,’ said a group spokesperson, ‘and we have a number of new members as well as folk that have been in the club for most of its 50 years.

‘At present, we bring an arrangement that we make up at home, based on a given theme, and work on another themed arrangement at the club.’

Anyone interesting in joining the club is welcome to attend its next meeting, on Wednesday June 8, in the Kirk Street Hall at 7.30pm.

‘We will then break for the summer and meet again in September,’ said the spokesperson.
