During the course of the day and evening of Tuesday May 3, 30 ladies from Dunaverty and Machrihanish golf clubs took part in Dunaverty’s Florrie Niven competition.

Ladies playing during the day had the better playing conditions, as evening players were hampered by a light drizzle and later rain.

Morning player Elizabeth Marrison played a very steady game and carded a great score of nett 60 (-5) to take the lead, with Fiona McLeod carding nett 63 (-2).

Eleanor Hunter, among the lunchtime players, made a great challenge to the leader board but was unable to better Elizabeth’s score, with a score of nett 61 (-4).

Despite valiant efforts by the evening players, in worsening weather conditions, none was able to beat the score Elizabeth, who was the winner of the competition.

Result: 1 Elizabeth Marrison nett 60 (-5), 2 Eleanor Hunter nett 61 (-4), 3 Fiona McLeod nett 63 (-2) (best last three). Lowest gross: Ailie MacBrayne, 73.
