Today (Friday, April 22) is the final day to enter the challenging Kintyre Way Ultra race and the less demanding Friday Frolic fun run.

The weekend of running begins on the evening of Friday May 13 with the eight-mile Friday Frolic, a Machrihanish loop that’s perfect for anyone who isn’t quite ready for an ultra.

The following day, more experienced runners can compete in the 33-mile Kintyre Way Ultra marathon solo or relay.

The start line and registration will be in Machrihanish, with the finish on Kinloch Green in Campbeltown.

The relay race is two-part this year, with the changeover in Southend.

Anyone wishing to run the relay but without a partner can get in touch with Rob Reid by emailing, stating which leg they would prefer to run.

Spectators and supporters are welcome to cheer runners along the promenade and past the war memorial towards the finish line.

They will be entertained by Funky Chicken and a children’s magician while they wait.

The after-race food, massages and 5pm prizegiving will take place in The Victoria Hall.
