Barry and George bag Machrihanish golf prizes

Machrihanish Golf Club’s Spring Meeting and Captain’s Prize competition was played in cold, windy and blustery conditions, with some sleety showers on Saturday April 9.

The wintry weather did not detract from some very good scores on the day.

The main handicap winner on the championship course was Barry Colville, who won by one shot, with a net 67.

The scratch winner of the gold medal was George MacMillan with a scratch 74.

The ladies’ first handicap was won by Janeann Reppke with a 104, net 79.

The yellow tee age 65-plus winner was Iain MacKinnon with a 95, net 72.

Nearest the pin prizes, sponsored by Springbank Distillery, were won by Catherine Reid at the fourth hole and Mathew MacAuley at the 15th.

On the Pans course, first handicap was won by Mary McIntyre with a net 67.

The scratch winner was Liz Casey with a scratch 80.

The list of other prize-winners are: Championship course, handicap: 1 Barry Colville 82-67, 2 Robert Coffield 83-68, 3 Mathew McAuley 77-69. Scratch: 1 George MacMillan 74, 2 Lee Mathieson 76, 3 Michael Morrison 77 (bih).

Pans course, handicap: 1 Mary McIntyre 95-67, 2 Jennifer Gilchrist 92-71, 3 Catherine Dobbie 88-72. Scratch: 1 Liz Casey 80, 2 Lorna Ralston 82.

The club’s Sheild four-ball competition was played on April 10.

The handicap winners were: 1 David Wallace and Donald Laing, net 65; 2 Trevor Wignall and Michael Morrison, net 66; 3 Andrew Wallace and Robert McDonald, net 67 (bih).

The scratch winners were Vince Jordan and Campbell McCallum with 74.
