In addition to a wide range of ticketed events to suit people of all musical persuasions, there will be many free events at this year’s Mull of Kintyre Music Festival (MOKFest).

Tickets for this year’s festival are already up for grabs and organisers say they are delighted with the early sales.

Held between August 17 and 21, the event has concerts featuring acts Elephant Sessions, Trail West, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, Fìobha Ceilidh Band, Brian McNeill, Calum Alex MacMillan with Ross Martin and Slainte Davaar Allstars.

The Saturday of the event, however, is packed full of free events including Up the Close at Well Close in the grounds at Springbank Distillery, as well as the return of the festival parade, and The Mega Session in the Festival Club in Kilbrannan Bar.

There will also be a new event on Saturday morning at Dalintober, run by Kintyre Seasports to kick-off the day’s entertainment.

Festivities continue with a performance by Kintyre Schools Pipe Band at 12.30pm which will be followed by the festival parade.

Everyone is welcome to join in and follow the band up Main Street, along Longrow to Springbank Distillery for Up The Close.

The outdoor event will have live music and entertainment from Gubbed, Jimi Get Your Funk On, Funky Chicken and James McCorkindale School of Highland Dance.

The festival starts on Wednesday August 17 with the Beinn an Tuirc Gaelic Concert in Campbeltown’s Argyll Arms Hotel and continues with the Young Folk Night on Thursday August 18.

As usual, there will be live music inside and outside many bars and hotels across the town.

Tickets for all concerts are available from AP Taylor on Main Street or online at www.ticketweb.com
