The airline which operates flights to and from Campbeltown Airport is calling on Kintyre musicians to help celebrate its diamond anniversary.

Loganair will mark its 60th anniversary next month and is creating a celebratory video in need of a home-grown soundtrack in honour of reaching this milestone.

The airline is inviting budding and established artists from the areas it serves to record and submit a lyrical or instrumental song which encapsulates the ethos of the airline over its six decades in operation.

One entry will be selected to feature in the anniversary video, in addition to winning a £1,000 cash prize.

Loganair was founded on February 1, 1962, with its first flight taking off from Dundee Airport bound for Edinburgh in October 1963.

In its six decades, Loganair has grown to be the largest regional airline in the UK as well as serving multiple international destinations including Denmark and Norway.

Loganair also operates lifeline services to the Highlands and Islands through domestic flights and its Royal Mail partnership.

Through the video, the airline hopes to celebrate its heritage and pay tribute to all of the special moments it has shared with customers, including connecting people across the UK and bringing loved ones together and allowing businesses to grow.

Therefore, the airline is looking for a song from a local artist across its UK network that puts the customer at the heart of its 60-year history.

‘Celebrating 60 years is a truly remarkable milestone and it’s humbling to reflect on our history as we continue to invest and look ahead to the next 60 years,’ said Kay Ryan, Loganair’s chief commercial officer.

‘We are in the business of connecting people so it’s fitting to call upon our network to create a soundtrack for our celebratory video.

‘We can’t wait to listen to the talented submissions over the coming weeks.’

But budding musicians will have to get humming or strumming soon as the deadline for entries is Wednesday January 19, 2022.

The winning entrant will then be selected to receive £1,000 cash and have their entry produced for the video which is set to debut on Tuesday February 1, 2022.
