Fans of the popular Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon and 10K Race (MOKRUN) will be pleased to learn that organisers intend to hold a live event in 2022.

For the last two years, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual race has been held virtually, with competitors completing a 10K or half-marathon distance individually, within their home area, between two given dates.

However, the MOKRUN committee has announced the event – including the junior races and the famous MOKRUN ceilidh – will return in May 2022, in adherence with any Covid guidance in place at the time.

The junior races will be on Saturday May 28 from 2pm, with the half-marathon and 10K kicking off at 10.30am the following day, on Sunday May 29.

The MOKRUN and Sports Council Ceilidh will take place on the Sunday evening, with doors opening at 7pm. Due to Covid restrictions, the number of ceilidh tickets available will be limited.

Entries go live for both senior races and the ceilidh at 9am on Sunday January 9 via Entry Central.

The race, one of the biggest events in Kintyre’s sporting calendar, was established 2006.

It has grown in popularity due to its picturesque location and fantastic atmosphere, as well as the post-race celebrations of Danish pastries and ceilidh dancing.

And it has been voted as the UK’s top race in Runner’s World magazine multiple times, meaning places typically sell-out quickly.
