GDYFL – under 17s
Campbeltown Pupils Youth 2005s maintained their unbeaten start to the Glasgow and District Youth Football League season with a comfortable home win over Kilbowie Union last Sunday.
After a two-week lay-off due to the October school holidays, it was a fantastic response from the Kintyre lads who controlled the game on the 3G all-weather pitch at Kinloch Green from start to finish.
Goals from Ruaridh Green, Ethan Parker and Calum Ellis were enough for the Ardhshiel Hotel-sponsored side to finish the half 3-0 up.
Despite a dogged performance by the Clydebank visitors, the local side went on to score five more goals in the second half with no reply.
Ellis adding two more for his hat-trick, Parker getting another, a cracking header from Euan Dott and a fine penalty from Andrew Semple were enough to finish the game 8-0.
‘Every player can be proud of their efforts, with Lorne Paterson in goal pleased with another clean sheet and captain Josh Arkell who had led by example from start to finish with a fantastic performance,’ said team manager David Paterson.
On Sunday, the Pupils under 17s travel to Glasgow to face Broomhill SC with a 12.15pm kick off at Scotstoun Sports Centre.
