Campbeltown Lawn Tennis Club has a new ladies’ champion after a final three-set thriller between sisters.

Amy and Susan Shaw reached last weekend’s ladies’ championships final after several weeks of keenly contested matches.

En route, Amy defeated Catherine Dobbie, Tracey Brogan and Melanie Stanger, while Susan defeated Mhairi McKellar and Jane Gallagher.

Elder sister Amy took the first set 6-4 but Susan bounced back to win the second set 6-3.

The final set was very close with games going with serve until Susan broke to lead 5-4. However, Amy broke straight back for 5-5.

Susan again broke Amy’s serve and this time held on to win 7-5.

Both ladies played really well in damp conditions and the spectators thoroughly enjoyed the contest with lots of encouragement for both players.
