Early morning rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of young rugby players at the first Dalriada Junior Rugby tournament in Oban in almost two years.

There were healthy numbers in all age groups at last Saturday’s event, with Campbeltown-Kintyre, Mid Argyll (Lochgilphead), Etive Vikings (Taynuilt), Mull and Lochaber as well as Oban teams playing some great rugby.

‘This was the second event in the series and the high standard of rugby on show was great to see, with some strong running and tackling and great tries being scored,’ said Argyll and Bute rugby development officer Andrew Johnston.

The next Dalriada event is in Fort William next Saturday, October 9.
