Gents’ Seniors Open

The Gents’ Seniors Open was played on Wednesday August 11, with 121 entrants taking part in the four categories.

Results: 1st overall: Craig Kelly; 2nd overall: Keith Crawford. Category A (55-59 years): 1 John McGrath, 2 Iain McGachie, 3 Andy McGowan, 4 David Galloway. Category B (60-64 years): 1 Alan Smith, 2 Robert Walker, 3 John Blincow, 4 Simon Smith. Category C (65-69 years): 1 Kenny Crawford, 2 Robert Baxter, 3 Duncan Munro, 4 Derek Adams. Category D (70+ years): 1 Joseph Platt, 2 Michael James Holder, 3 Terry Haine, 4 Jim McCallum. Longest drive: Category A: Stephen Gorman; Category B: Bill Wardrope; Category C: Dr Satyesh Sharma; Category D: Michael James Holder.

David Irwin Memorial Trophy

Sixteen teams took part in the David Irwin Memorial Trophy competition on August 15.

David was a stalwart of the club, being a lifelong member and a part of the greenkeeping staff for many years.

There was a prizegiving held in the clubhouse and the prizes were presented by Sheena Robertson, David’s partner.

Results: Nearest the pin in one at hole four, sponsored by Sheena Robertson: Paul Martin. Best combined gross score at hole four, sponsored by Mr and Mrs Donald Irwin: tied with 11 shots: Michael Morrison, Lee Mathieson, John Docherty, George MacMillan, Paul Martin, Eric Capocci, Allan Weir and Donald Johnson. Nearest the pin in one at hole 11, sponsored by Springbank Distillery: Mark Patterson. Nearest the pin in one at hole 15, sponsored by Cadenheads Whisky Shop: David Hanley. Nearest the pin in two at hole 18, sponsored by Springbank Distillery: Archie McCallum.

Ladies’ nine-hole Stableford

The Ladies’ nine-hole Stableford took place on July 31.

Results: 1 H Bapty, 2 M McIntyre, 3 J Mcgregor.

Millenium Trophy

The Millenium Trophy, played in teams of two, took place on August 7.

Results: 1 H Bapty and M McLean; 2 A Gallacher and E MacBrayne; 3 C Dobbie and M Speirings Hendrie.

Jimmy Kerr Memorial Open

The Jimmy Kerr Memorial Open was held on August 21 with 123 entrants.

Results: Scratch: 1 Robbie Wilson, 2 Martin Robb, 3 Stuart Campbell, 4 Eric Capocci. Handicap: 1 Gordon Ball, 2 D McCallum, 3 Lorne Robertson, 4 Kenny Stewart. Ladies’ scratch: 1 Elizabeth Casey, 2 Elaine Robb. Ladies’ handicap: 1 Maggie Macarthur, 2 Ann Gallacher. Gents’ senior: Laurence Ferguson.

Mrs McEwan competition

The Mrs McEwan competition took place on August 22 with ladies of Dunaverty Golf Club invited to play.

Results: Scratch: 1 Elaine Robb, 2 Lorna Ralston, 3 Elizabeth Marrison. Handicap: 1 Lindsay Garrett, 2 Ann Gallacher, 3 Mary McIntyre.
