A 19-year-old workman on his way home from Campbeltown was caught doing 97mph on the A83 near to Kilmichael Farm.

Luke Anthony Cunningham of 6 Falla Hill Place, Fauldhouse, admitted careless driving at speed on a 60mph-limit road on September 17 last year at 10pm.

At Campbeltown Sheriff Court last week Kris Buchanan, his defence agent, said that this was a ‘one-off, out-of-character event’ for Cunningham.

Sheriff Patrick Hughes fined him £900 with a victim surcharge of £40 and ordered seven penalty points be added to Cunningham’s licence.
