Congratulations, Mr and Mrs McPherson

The Courier wishes Pat and Sandy McPherson a very happy golden wedding anniversary.

It is no mean feat celebrating 50 years of marriage, particularly, one would imagine, having worked alongside each other as teachers for many of those years.

Pat and Sandy are well known in Campbeltown, not only for educating generations of students in modern languages and PE, but as valued members of the community.

And Pat has certainly made a name for herself in the preserves industry since her retirement from full-time work.

After a long teaching career, Pat was well and truly entitled to a break from hard graft but she is now 15 years into a new career.

Even when the Courier went to chat to the couple on Monday, Pat was busy finishing off a couple of batches before getting ready to travel to Arran to celebrate with family.

Pat’s continued success at The World’s Original Marmalade Awards is just reward for the fruits of her labour.

And while she assures us Sandy has nothing to do with the cooking process, we bet he’s a great support to her in many other ways.

We are glad the couple can be joined by their family to celebrate and we wish the entire  McPherson clan a wonderful weekend.
