Talented young photographers from Campbeltown and the surrounding area were in the spotlight last week.
Wild Nature was the theme of this year’s Rotary Young Photographer competition with entrants required to submit a portfolio of three prints with comments.
Judges selected a winner in each class.
Teigan Edwards-Read won the junior section, Josh Owens took the intermediate title and Iona Rento was the senior group winner.
Judges then had to select a single print from each portfolio to submit to the next round, West of Scotland, where the Campbeltown entrants each came home with silverware. Teigan and Iona came second in their classes and Josh won the District Intermediate class. His entry now goes forward to the national final.
All entries have been exhibited at the Wee Picture House for the last two months. The exhibition has now closed.
Rotary president Pat Healey presented the two salvers to Josh last week. Teigan and Iona were unable to attend.
Pat congratulated all the entrants for the quality of their entries.
Alan Milstead, President Elect of Rotary, thanked Stuart Andrew for judging the competition and printing and mounting the prints, Ellen Mainward for hosting the exhibition at The Picture House and Marlyn Moffit of Made in Kintyre for the captions.
