Bowlers competed recently in the Robert Leishman memorial fours at Stronvaar in overcast but warm conditions.

With 14 teams entering the Campbeltown Bowling Club competition on Saturday July 3, there were two sections of seven fighting it out to finish in the top two to progress to the semi-finals.

Section A winners Steven Dickson, John McCormick, John Shaw and Neil McCormick played section B runners-up David Brown, Hugh MacDonald, Donald Martin and Brian Leishman in one semi-final.

The other saw section A runners-up Kieran McGeachy, Charles Lang, Stephen Wyper and Dougie Lang play section B winners John McLean, Scott Mclachlan, Ryan Johnston and Ryan Mclachlan.

After two closely-contested games, Steven Dickson’s team took on John McLean’s in the final.

And following another excellent display, the McLean team triumphed.

President David Brown said: ‘Congratulations to all.

‘Our thanks go to all the competitors, especially the visiting teams – it was great to see so many in what has been a tough time for all – Malc Mitchell for the green, the ladies who kept us fed and watered all day, Robert Todd and his selection committee for running the competition and sponsor Brian Leishman, who informed me that it was the 20th year that the competition had been run – here’s to another 20.’
