It is amazing the opportunities that can arise from a simple Tweet.
When Dalintober Primary School additional support needs assistant Mairi Campbell tagged Judy Murray in a Tweet about the school’s tennis work, she probably did not expect the coaching ace to offer to come and visit the pupils.
The aim of Judy’s foundation is to improve access to tennis opportunities across Scotland, taking the sport to rural and disadvantaged areas.
We are lucky here in Kintyre to have a brilliant tennis club, with some fantastic, experienced coaches, and inspirational schools which promote the sport, but we are remote, meaning visits from people like Judy are not always easy to arrange.
A coaching session with the mother of two of the country’s best tennis players could be enough to encourage Dalintober’s young sports fans to stick in and hone their skills.
A simple Tweet could lead to the creation of the future stars of Scottish tennis – let’s keep an eye out for Campbeltown names appearing on the scoreboards at Wimbledon!
