A car was stopped by police on the A83 near Westport at about 11.40pm on Saturday April 3 for a routine check which revealed that there appeared to be no MOT in force for the vehicle. The driver, a 28-year-old man, failed to produce a certificate upon request and has been charged with the offence.

Caravan vandalised

Police are appealing for witnesses after a white Hobby tourer caravan at Killegruer Caravan Site, Glenbarr, was damaged between Tuesday April 13 and Tuesday April 27, when the positional ties which hold it in place and one of its brake lights were broken.

Boy assaulted

Police are investigating after a young boy was allegedly assaulted by five other young boys on grass near Limecraigs Road, Campbeltown, at about 6.30pm on Thursday April 22.

Offensive weapon

About 10.15pm on Monday April 26, Burbank Street, Campbeltown, a cyclist fled when police approached to interact with him. The person was apprehended and searched, and an eight-inch kitchen knife was found in a bag he had with him. The knife was seized and the 60-year-old man was arrested and charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon.

Diesel stolen

Police are investigating after diesel was reportedly syphoned from the fuel tank of a black Audi car between 6pm on Tuesday April 27 and 11am on Wednesday April 28, on Argyll Street, Campbeltown.

Man assaulted

A 45-year-old woman was issued with a recorded police warning at about 1.45am on Thursday April 29, in Main Street, Campbeltown, for assaulting a man after police were called to a disturbance at the location.

Dangerous driving

At about 8.15pm on Thursday April 29, on Millknowe Street, Campbeltown, police attempted to stop a vehicle but the driver failed to stop and drove away, before abandoning the car in the road and making off. The driver, a 46-year-old man, was located and charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and obstruction of a highway.

Speeding and bald tyres

A vehicle was stopped by police on the A83 near to Bellochantuy, at about 3.20pm on Friday April 30, after being observed driving at 87 miles per hour. The vehicle was found to have two tyres below the legal tread requirement. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was charged with the offences.
