At the start of the pandemic in March we took the decision to make online access to our news free of charge by taking down our paywall. At a time where accurate information about Covid-19 was vital to our community, this was the right decision – even though it meant a drop in our income. In order to help safeguard the future of our journalism, the time has now come to reinstate our paywall.
However, rest assured that access to all Covid related news will still remain free.

A car on the A83 near Tayinloan was stopped by police at about 3.10pm on Tuesday April 20 and routine checks revealed there was allegedly no insurance and no MOT in force for the vehicle. The driver, a 48-year-old man, was charged with the offence and the vehicle was seized.
Between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Tuesday April 20, in Dalaruan Street, Campbeltown, a white Land Rover Discovery car was damaged when its rear bumper and bodywork were struck by another vehicle, which failed to stop and report the collision.
At about 6.30pm on Wednesday April 21, in Lochend Street, Campbeltown, a 46-year-old man was arrested, and later charged with behaving in an abusive manner and assaulting two women.
At about 1.45am on Saturday April 24, in Kinloch Road, Campbeltown, two males, aged 16 and 17, were stopped and searched by police and found in possession of a small amount of cannabis. They were charged and issued with recordable police warnings.
A flat in Big Kiln Street, Campbeltown, was searched by police at about 10pm on Saturday April 24. A 51-year-old man was charged for being found in possession of cannabis and cocaine.
At about midnight on Saturday April 17, at the Glebe, Bowmore, Islay, a wall was damaged after being struck by a vehicle which failed to stop and report the collision.
At about 2.40pm on Saturday April 24, at Flora Street, Bowmore, Islay, a 54-year-old man allegedly behaved in an abusive manner and threw a boulder at a man in a digger, smashing a window. Police are investigating and will charge the man when he is traced.
