At the start of the pandemic in March we took the decision to make online access to our news free of charge by taking down our paywall. At a time where accurate information about Covid-19 was vital to our community, this was the right decision – even though it meant a drop in our income. In order to help safeguard the future of our journalism, the time has now come to reinstate our paywall.

Police are investigating after a front-facing window of a house on Longrow, Campbeltown, was damaged between 9.15pm and 9.30pm on Monday March 8.
A motorist was stopped on the A83, near Muasdale, at about 1.50pm on Tuesday March 9, for allegedly exceeding the speed limit. The driver, a 25-year-old man, was then charged with failing a roadside drug test. A blood sample was later taken for analysis.
A white Ford Transit van was allegedly seen to be driven in a careless manner while overtaking other vehicles on the A83 near Westport at about 10am on Wednesday March 10. The van was stopped by police and the 36-year-old male driver was charged with the offence.
Police are appealing for witnesses after an Ifor Williams drop-side trailer worth £6,000 was stolen from Bengullion Road Industrial Estate, Campbeltown, between 5pm on Thursday March 11 and 8am on Friday March 12.
Assault with iron bar
A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with assaulting a woman and a man with an iron bar in Bolgam Street, Campbeltown, at about 5.45pm on Friday March 12.
A 53-year-old man allegedly behaved in an abusive manner at the Co-op supermarket in Bowmore, Islay, at about 3.30pm on Saturday March 6. He was later traced by police and charged.
