At the start of the pandemic in March we took the decision to make online access to our news free of charge by taking down our paywall. At a time where accurate information about Covid-19 was vital to our community, this was the right decision – even though it meant a drop in our income. In order to help safeguard the future of our journalism, the time has now come to reinstate our paywall.
However, rest assured that access to all Covid related news will still remain free.

Speeding and illegal tyre
A motorist on the A83 was stopped near Bellochantuy at about 4.10pm on Monday February 22 for allegedly exceeding the speed limit. The car was also allegedly found to have two defective tyres. The driver, a 29-year-old man, was charged.
Failure to stop
At about 8.45am on Monday February 22, on the B842 between Saddell and Peninver, a white van collided wing mirrors with a beige Vauxhall Infinity car which was travelling towards Campbeltown. Police are appealing for witnesses as the van failed to stop and continued northwards.
Graffiti was discovered painted on a wall in the common close at 27 John Street, Campbeltown, at about noon on Wednesday February 24.
A 29-year-old woman has been charged with assaulting another woman in High Street, Campbeltown, at about 5am on Saturday February 27.
A car on the A846 near Bridgend, Islay, was stopped and searched by police at about 9pm on Wednesday February 24, and a 24-year-old man was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis. He was charged and issued with a recordable police warning.
