Ardrishaig and South Knapdale parishes are looking to get their streets singing on Sunday, December 20, when taking part in a nationwide initiative.

Carols from Your Doorstep has been organised to ensure it’s anything but a silent night with neighbourhoods from all over Scotland being urged to take part.

‘Traditional door-to-door caroling is clearly not possible this year due to Covid-19 restrictions but it is hoped that filling the streets with the joyful sound of classics like Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Away in a Manger and O Come All Ye Faithful will send out a strong message that Christmas is not cancelled,’ said Reverend David Carruthers, Minister for Ardrishaig and South Knapdale.

‘People can sing from their doorsteps or by their window.

‘In Ardrishaig we hope to raise funds for next year’s pensioners’ Christmas Dinner, which was cancelled this year along with the usual fund raising events.’

The appropriately distanced Christmas cacophony will begin at 6pm and will last approximately 15 minutes. Carol Sheets can be picked up within the community.
