Discovering Campbeltown

We all love Campbeltown for our own reasons, many of us simply because it is the place we call home, having been born and raised here.

Even if we haven’t given it much thought, our love for the area probably comes from a combination of our stunning scenery, varied wildlife and rich cultural heritage.

Many people around the world love Campbeltown because of its strong affiliation with whisky, having been described at one time as the whisky capital of the world and still recognised as one of the distinct whisky distilling regions with three thriving distilleries.

Whatever your reason for loving Campbeltown, it is fantastic to share the things our town has to offer with residents and visitors through the exciting new Discover Campbeltown app.

A lot of time and effort has gone into making the app a success and we can’t wait to see people out and about using it.

What a pity the app’s launch coincided with another landslide closing the A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful.

As lovely as Campbeltown is, it is a long journey from most places at the best of times, never mind when detours are involved.

We need to see some real urgency put into finding a permanent solution for the Rest and Be Thankful to ensure the survival of Argyll towns like Campbeltown.
