Dunaverty Golf Club members had to put their thinking caps on in the annual four-club competition last Sunday.

Club selection is crucial in this event and most players opted for at least a driver, a putter then anything from a pitching wedge to a five iron.

The top six all came from the morning session with Keith Crawford hitting a scratch 71, the best of the day, for a nett 66.

Bobby Dalziel, playing in the next group, continued his good form by compiling a scratch 75, less 11, to lead on a nett 64.

Match secretary Alex Arkell enjoyed his best round of the season. Despite having two double bogeys and one quadruple bogey on his card, he finished with a superb 75 to give him a winning nett score of 61.

Result: 1 Alex Arkell 75-14=61; 2 Bobby Dalziel 75-11=64; 3 Grant Edmondson 79-14=65; 4 Keith Crawford 71-5=66 (bih); 5 Willie Ralston 86-20=66, 6 Don Hardman 81-14=67.
