The cancellation of this year’s Cowal Highland Gathering, which is marketed as the world’s biggest Highland games, caused disappointment to many pipers, dancers and sportspeople.

To mark the missed season, James McCorkindale School of Dancing members Erin Binnie, Lisa McKellar and Solana McMurchy put on their kilts and had photographs taken on Saddell Beach.

One of the images was featured on the Your Pictures of Scotland section of the BBC News website.
