Golfers turned out in force last Saturday to compete for Dunaverty Golf Club’s RNLI Club Stableford Cup, with 42 men and 18 ladies taking part in the annual competition.

The weather, although warm and dry, was beset by strong gusting winds which made for tough playing conditions.

Early starter John Wareham came in with a leading total of 37 points. John Marrison, in the group behind, eclipsed the leader by producing an excellent total of 40 points.

Further back in the field, Dugald Graham and Malcolm Ronald made valiant efforts to catch John but failed by just one point, with Dugald beating Malcolm in the inward half to occupy the runner-up spot.

The ladies did extremely well with three finishing in the top ten. In her first competitive season, Katie Cappello came out on top with 38 points, one ahead of Elizabeth Marrison and Linn Coffield.
