Birthdays during a global pandemic are bound to be different than usual.
People may be unable to celebrate with family and friends due to government guidelines on social distancing, but they have been finding other ways to make their days special.
This is how some of Kintyre’s birthday boys and girls spent their day. Happy birthday to everyone celebrating a lockdown birthday.
Elliot James Taylor
Elliot James Taylor will be two on May 26 and he will spend his day having fun in his paddling pool and on his new trampoline. Elliot lives in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, but his mum Victoria is originally from Campbeltown, where her family still live. Victoria said: ‘Elliot misses all our family so much, especially his cousins JJ, Joey, Jacques and Oliver.’
Maia Malai from Campbeltown turned five on May 14. Her family, originally from Romania, made her a cake and bought some flowers and balloons and had fun playing music and dancing.
Joseph Boyd from Campbeltown will be 30 on May 24. Joseph’s mum Lilibet and siblings Ashleigh, Victoria and Bradley wish him a very happy birthday. Lilibet said: ‘It has been a difficult year for my son and his wife Jackie and we had hoped to make this birthday a special one. Now, due to COVID-19, we won’t be celebrating. Joey and Jackie have six-month-old twin boys called Oliver and Jacques. They also have two chihuahuas called Coco and Gringo who had puppies a few weeks ago.’
Lola Lafferty turned five yesterday, May 21. She had an under the sea themed birthday and celebrated with her bear ‘Blue’ who shares the same birthday. She also took her new doll and pram out on an adventure.
Joshua Lavery-Jones from Carradale turned 11 on May 13. His friends cheered him up by calling by and singing happy birthday at the bottom of the drive.
Oliver King from Campbeltown will be eight on May 28. His mum, dad and sisters Chloe and Lily wish him a very happy birthday.
Chelsea-Leigh Mathieson turned 21 yesterday, May 21. She celebrated with some of her family, including her son Callen who also had his birthday during lockdown. She received a video from the rest of her family and friends to help her celebrate.
Rowan Brodie from Campbeltown turned five on Monday May 18. She had a great day at home playing with her big brother Hunter and new toys including a pink guitar. Her daddy, mummy and Hunter wished her a happy birthday.
