Kintyre Agricultural Society has announced that its 2020 show has been cancelled.

In a statement, the society’s secretary John Armour said: ‘It will likely come as no surprise that the directors have had to make the decision that this year’s show, scheduled for Friday August 7, will now not be going ahead due to the current COVID-19 virus guidelines.

‘The directors wanted to wait as long as possible to make the decision but with large gatherings being one of the last of the restrictions to be lifted they decided to cancel now rather than start to incur costs in preparation for this year.’

All being well, the 2021 show is scheduled to take place on Friday August 6.

Mr Armour added: ‘We don’t know whether our other events in the next months or year will be able to go ahead but will monitor the situation and let you know as soon as a decision has been made.

‘In the meantime the president, vice presidents, directors and myself hope you all keep well and safe during these very worrying times.’
