Machrihanish on film
A small dealer in amateur and rare films stumbled upon a piece of Kintyre history at a church fair in London.
Marco Savaglio purchased a small reel of 16mm amateur film, dated 1929, at the fair a few months ago and, after having had a chance to watch it, discovered that it contains images of residents from Machrihanish. Many of the images are accompanied by a description of the person’s job or role within the village but none has a name.
Mr Savaglio sent some stills from the film, some of which can be seen below with their accompanying captions, to the Courier in the hope that local families may recognise some of the faces.
