Kintyre and District Ayrshire Breeders Club’s annual Heifer Competition was held on Wednesday December 4, when members and friends viewed the various entries at the four herds participating.

Judge for the day was the far travelled Scott Taylor of Upper Braiklay, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, whose herd prefix, which may be better recognised, is Old Mill.

The results were announced and cups presented at an evening dinner held in the Ugadale Hotel as follows: Team Competition: 1 and the Parker Cup: T M Ralston & Sons, East Drumlemble; 2 Thomas Cameron, Gartvaigh; 3 J & M Barr, Clochkeil. Progeny Group: 1 and the James & Son Quaich: James Barbour, Machribeg; 2 East Drumlemble; 3 Clochkeil. Individual Heifer: 1 and the Kintyre Farmers Cup: Gartvaigh; 2 East Drumlemble; 3 Graeme McMillan, Gartvaigh. Dam and daughter: 1 and the Ayrshire Breeders Cup: Gartvaigh; 2 Graeme McMillan; 3 East Drumlemble. Butterfat and protein: 1 and the John Barr Memorial Tray: East Drumlemble.

To conclude, a vote of thanks to all concerned in the day’s success was given by Murray Ralston.
