Two arrested

Two men were charged and held for court after police received a report of a disturbance at a property on Lady Mary Row, Campbeltown, late on Wednesday night last week. A 47-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting another man aged 38, who was arrested for an alleged vandalism and possession of a knife. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Abusive behaviour

A 33-year-old woman was arrested for alleged abusive behaviour, later charged and issued with a £40 fixed penalty ticket after an incident early on Monday morning on Kirk Street, Campbeltown.

Dangerous dog

The dog warden will be consulted and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal after an incident on Tuesday afternoon last week near Carradale Estate, Carradale. A 77-year-old man was allegedly bitten by a dog which was outwith its owner’s control. A man, aged 63, was later traced and charged with the offence.


In the early hours of Saturday morning, on Longrow, Campbeltown, a man aged 38 was arrested for alleged abusive behaviour. He was charged and held in custody for court.

Possession of drugs

On Monday afternoon last week, on Lochend Street, Campbeltown, a 51-year-old man was allegedly found in possession of cannabis. He was charged with the offence and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Drunk drivers

Police on Islay had to deal with two separate incidents of alleged drunk-driving early on Sunday morning, both of which happened on Main Street, Bowmore. In the first, a man aged 26 was arrested, charged with the offence and within the hour police stopped and charged another driver, a 20-year-old man. Both were released to appear in court at a later date.


An ornamental shell was allegedly stolen from the garden of a property on Shore Street, Bowmore, sometime between Tuesday August 27 and Monday September 30. Police are investigating the incident.
