A 41-year-old driver was stopped for allegedly exceeding the speed limit on Thursday evening last week on the A83 at Bellochantuy. He was charged and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Cars vandalised

Police are investigating two incidents of cars being vandalised in Tarbert; it is not known if the two are linked.

The first happened between Thursday September 19 and Wednesday September 25, outside a property on School Road, Tarbert, when a black Seat Leon was damaged by having body work scratched.

Then, between the evenings of Saturday September 21 and Monday September 23, a white Ford Fiesta also had its body-work scratched outside a property in Kingsway.

Two reported

Two drivers, a woman, aged 19, and a youth, aged 17, were charged and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal following two incidents of driving at excessive speed and in a careless manner on Islay. These happened on Friday night and early on Sunday morning respectively, both on Main Street, Bowmore.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information on the above or any incident to phone 101 or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
