Plans for a Campbeltown book festival have been written off.

A committee was set up last year with a view to establishing a literary festival in Campbeltown but it has been announced that the first festival – planned to take place in spring 2020 – will not go ahead.

The group organised an anagram quiz to raise funds for the proposed event where entrants were asked to work out the names of 38 authors. The winner was Archie MacIntyre from Machrihanish, who won £20.
