Heavy rain forecast for over the weekend has meant that ongoing surfacing improvements on the A83 at Bellochantuy will need an additional night’s work, postponing the start date for the next project at Point Sands.
The project at Bellochantuy will now be completed overnight on Sunday, September 1, with a 10mph convoy system in place for safety between 7pm and 7am on Monday.
This has altered the start date of the A83 Point Sands improvements which were scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 1.
Weather permitting, the project is now scheduled to begin on the night of Monday September 2 and will take nine nights to complete, with all works due to be finished by 7am on Friday, September 13. No works are planned for Friday of Saturday nights.
The traffic management at A83 Point Sands will remain the same as originally planned. A road closure will be in place for safety between 7pm and 7am each night.
With no suitable trunk road diversion route available, amnesty periods will be provided at the following times: 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, midnight, 2am, 4am, 5am and 6am.
The A83 will remain open outwith the working hours, however a speed limit of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.
