So Boris has landed and been handing out largesse to the natives in Scotland, Wales and Ireland during his visits this week.

A pot of £300 million is to be divided up among the nations for their growth deal funds and Argyll and Bute is to get a share of the cash. But how much remains to be seen.

Not that the cash is to be sneezed at or given to someone else. What has to happen is that councillors, officials and others with a specialist knowledge need to sit down and develop a masterplan on how to spend this extra cash that benefits the whole of Arygll and Bute and that includes Campbeltown and the south of Kintyre.

Attracting additional skills, doing more of what works and conntecting with with national and international business markets, are mantras being considered as the best way to spend the cash.

But let’s not get it spent just yet. As always the devil is in the detail and that at the moment is in scant supply.
