A man who trapped a mother and her children inside their home by tying the door shut with a cable, while threatening to harm himself as he held an open can of petrol, has been admonished.

Dean McSporran, 27, of 42 Smith Drive, appeared at Campbeltown Sheriff Court for sentencing last Thursday, having previously pleaded guilty part-way through a trial to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, which also involved repeatedly banging on the front door and shouting, at a Campbeltown address on April 23 last year.

On finding out that his criminal justice social work report was ‘clear’, Sheriff Patrick Hughes admonished McSporran.
