Queens of their crafts demonstrated a trio of skills at Southend SWI ‘s April meeting.

The members night in Dunaverty Hall saw three members of the group demonstrating their skills in different tasks.

Elizabeth Semple talked members through how to make fabulous pancakes.

She credited Helen Steel for the recipe and said that it was the best tasting one she had used.

The pancakes smelt amazing and all the members had a taste straight off the griddle.

Elizabeth also shared recipes for shortbread and sugared loaf and samples were passed round.

Jean Ives demonstrated creating paper decorations.

She made beautiful hanging lantern type ornaments which could also join together to make large flower or star shapes.  Some members gave it a go too and had some fun. The finished items could be used at Christmas or as  summer garden decorations.

Jen Ronald then demonstrated  making marzipan fruits.

She showed members the beautiful finished items and described how to go about creating them.

Mrs Ronald made more ordinary fruits like oranges, bananas and pears and also a mushroom and even slice of water melon.

Some of the members joined in this craft too and made their own fruits.

The competitions on the night were pancakes  and a favourite vase.
