George Michael sung ‘You gotta have faith’, it was not about religion but this week with Easter round the corner there is a dose of faith in the Courier.

Campbeltown Community Church has a new pastor and surely Reverend Mark Jasper has made a bold ‘leap of faith’.

His family has swapped the sunny, warm Mediterranean climes of Mallorca for Kintyre’s distinctly cooler climate with wind ever present.

There are many similarities though, apart from the temperature. Kintyre is like a mainland island with the sea on three sides and is at least as remote as Mallorca from the ‘mainland.’

Reverend Jasper was welcomed last Saturday at an inter-denominational service.

It may have shown the pastor that Campbeltown’s faith underpinnings are still strong despite being buffeted by the vagaries of the modern world.

His family will step back to a more relaxed way of life, complete with many traditional trappings and they will find that religion, in all its hues, is healthy in a land where there is no such thing as time.
