Amidst all the prize bingo and quiz sessions at Campbeltown Bowling Club Stronvaar members have fitted in a winter of carpet bowling.
As the indoor season comes to a close, last week the club hosted its open pairs competition sponsored by Andrew Thompson Plastering and Decorating.
Two round robin sections of six games were played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The qualifiers contesting the semi-finals were: Alex Black and David Brown, Archie and Ryan Johnston, Hugh McCorkindale and Gavin Semple and Robert Todd and newly elected President Bobby Dalziel.
Hugh and Gavin and Robert and Bobby emerged as finalists.
The opening ends of the final were very close until the sixth end.
When Hugh and Gavin took a four shot lead that allowed them to settle for losing single shots, in the last three ends, to win the Archie and Fiona Smith Cup by a single shot.
The new match secretary, Steven Dickson, presented the trophy and prizes.
