Members of a group known as ‘Retired Not Expired’ proved they are shooting stars when they took aim at a Kintyre gun range.

The group, organised by Third Sector Interface (TSI)’s 1000 Voices project, attended an action-packed day of shooting with Landrail Firearms at the Hutton Range at MACC Business Park on Wednesday February 6.

This was an opportunity for new and existing shooters to try their hand at target practice.

The group was welcomed by husband and wife team Peter and Paula Davie, who run the range, and members were treated to a buffet lunch and an informative talk including examples of antique guns.

Mr and Mrs Davie restored the former Navy SEALs indoor shooting range, which was purpose-built in the late 1980s, after discovering it was lying redundant at the business park.

They extensively refurbished it and opened it as a commercial shooting range in 2014.

Mr Davie, a keen shooter, firearms enthusiast and gunsmith, is a qualified range conducting officer.

Michele Prout, from 1000 Voices, said: ‘Once again we had a fantastic day and we were pleased to welcome new people to the group.

‘Pete and Paula offer an outstanding experience and were so attentive to us, even providing everyone with Valentine’s gifts on departure.

‘These days out are so popular that we are fully booked for the March trip and now taking names for the April event.’
