Campbeltown U13 football stars swapped studs for spokes in a sponsored spin on bicycles.

Last Saturday, in the Co-op foyer, players took half hour shifts, on two bikes, to raise more than £1,000 towards funds to compete in the three-day Edinburgh International Youth Cup in August.

A Campbeltown and District Juvenile Football Association spokesperson said: ‘A massive thank you to Campbeltown Co-op for allowing us to use their foyer to spin our way to a massive £1,178.50.

‘Thank you to each and everyone of you who supported us and also the words of encouragement, which meant a lot.’

CDJFA, supported by quiz queen Helen Gilchrist, will hold a Big Quiz Night, at Stronvaar Bowling Club on Saturday March 2 with a £100 top prize.

The evening’s entertainment will include a quiz, raffles and television show games.

The young spinners from left are: Josh MacDonald, 10, John McTaggart, 12, Jack MacNab, 11 and Daniel McEachran,10.
